Paolo is Assistant Professor for Experimental Planetology at ETH Zürich. His interests lie in understanding the formation and evolution of terrestrial planets. He combines experimental, isotopic, spectroscopic and theoretical approaches to examine the chemical and physical properties of minerals, melts and gases in order to shed light on the growth and evolution of planets from dust grains into complex bodies. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2015 from the Australian National University, before undertaking a four-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris. He joined ETH in 2019 as an Ambizione Fellow, and, in 2022, was awarded an ERC Starting Grant and an SNSF Eccellenza Professorship. He received the EAG Houtermans Medal in 2021 for early career contributions to geochemistry. He currently serves as Editor for the journal Icarus.
